New York City Council districts are drawn every 10 years by an independent Districting Commission following the U.S. Census to bring the City into compliance with the Constitutional doctrine of one-person, one-vote, the Voting Rights Act of 1965, and the City Charter.

As part of this process, the Commission is holding a second round of hearings to receive additional public testimony on the Preliminary Plan for all 51 Council districts. Those interested in registering to testify may do so here. Interpretation requests for the hearings are being accepted up to 72 hours in advance. Residents also have the option of drawing and submitting their own maps for consideration using DistrictR, a mapping tool available on the Commission’s website here.

Besides testifying in person or by Zoom at the meetings, the public may submit written testimony and maps by email to PublicT...@redistricting.nyc.gov, and by mail at NYC Districting Commission, 253 Broadway, 3rd Floor, NY, NY 10007.

We encourage all New York City residents to make their voices on these preliminary maps heard and to testify before the Commission at any of the upcoming hearings in August.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

New York City Council

I’ve also been posting stuff to this site but yours is so much more cohesive & detailed!  Hope people are paying attention…this affects so much of our local RI & financial representation in a City-wide way!
