Subject: Westerley Winter Warmer + other events (Hillingdon TTs, Summer Sizzler, virtual racing, club rides, Spring Classics)

Dear Rider,

Westerley Winter Warmer + other events (Hillingdon TTs, Summer Sizzler, virtual racing, club rides)

Christmas is fast approaching and there is a chill in the air to show us that winter is coming.  But winter riding can be satisifying and enjoyable. Entries for the Westerley Winter Warmer are now open.  It is early in the New Year on Sunday 11th January, to help you burn off any Christmas excess and get the year off to a flying start.

As in recent years, there are three versions.  The long route is 110km (1200m of climbing), the medium is 61km and there is a shorter version of around 44km.  The long route is a challenging winter ride which tackles several of the bigger climbs on the Chiltern ridge while the medium route has Hatches Lane as its main climb.  The short version is a pretty route that misses out all the big hills and most of the (short) main road sections which the others have.

Entry prices are £12/£10/£8 for adults and free for Juniors (Under 14s must be accompanied by an adult).

There is a manned HQ - Chalfont St Giles Scout Hut, GPX tracks, computerised timing system and plenty of food before and after (including home-made cake).

As happened last year, if the weather is too bad to run the event, we'll cancel and give you a full refund, and look to reschedule for later in the year, so there's no reason to hold off entering if you would like to ride.  We're limited to 200 riders and the event has sold out in each of the last dozen or so years, so entry on the day is not likely.

There's more info on our website, or please ask if you have any questions.

Other Westerley events

Virtual racing - we have a successful virtual racing team taking part in, and organising, regular TTT competitions and race series throughout the year, where we compete with teams from around the world, from the comfort of our sheds, garages and living rooms.

Club rides, every Sunday, at a spirited pace, usually 8:30am from Costa in Greenford

Hillingdon TTs start on 22 April, continuing on alternate Wednesdays through until late August, with a 25-mile version on a Saturday afternoon in June.

The Summer Sizzler - our challenging warm-weather ride which includes a succession of tough Chiltern climbs - will run again in September, although there may be a change of format for this year - watch this space!

Spring Classics

The Winter Warmer is the first in a series of seven reliability rides organised by clubs to the north and west of London which take place between January and March.  If you enjoy the Winter Warmer, please check them out on springclassics.org.uk.  There you will find links for more info and how to enter.

Hi Gill,

I'd be happy to ride with you, whichever distance you would prefer. Can decide nearer the time I guess.

Hi Gill,
Ive had an illness prone year which will take me another 12 months to recover from. So I’m happy to ride with you as ling as its under 2 hours and not hilly. if you think thats of use to you sometime :)
I can ride in the daytimes too.

Did you find a Sports Psychologist? If not Im a qualified one, so would be happy to help if wanted.

Kindest regards
Lorna

Lorna

Very nice to hear from you and I am sorry to hear you have  not  been well

Specifically I was looking for a partner for the WWW  this is quite Hilly and over two hours its on 11th  January 2026. Vince is going to partner me but more the merrier  route options 44 or 61 km  from  Chalfont St Giles.

More specifically I  would like to have some riding partners, At the moment I work full time so really only free Sunday morning, I M not sure about geographical logisticss  I am Wembley Park.  2 hours at the moment is very much my limit  I have back issue that is unlikely to go away.

Regarding Psychologist I have seen someone;  I needed an expert witness report following the two incidents when I was hit.  Part of the 2nd settlement is going to involve confidence training on the bike . This case is still not settled though liability has been admitted. Incident 1 is settled.

Thank you and take care

Gill
