I know this isn't really a weewx question but ...

How do I change my password at wunderground?  I changed my password in member settings at wunderground.com.  But that only changed my login to the site.  Only the old login works in my weewx.conf.  Anything other than the old gets me an authentication error.

as far as i can see the api requires only an apikey  - not a password.  Are you sure a password is required?  I know one is specified in weewx.conf but is it actually used??  If one is required I would suspect it would however be the password as it was at the time the key was generated (suspicion says the apikey could well be a hash derived from station id and password).  Further thought makes me think that maybe you have to generate a new apikey after changing the password in the members/station section.  Tom must generate the api key since it is not specified in weewx.conf - just station id and password it would appear.

Yes, a wrong password causes an authentication error in weewx log.

I'll try changing api-key but I think that is only for reading a forecast, not contributing.

Thanks that worked, and I was able to change my web login without breaking anything.  It is really confusing that it would accept my old web login.  Must be to allow old running software to continue running after the rules changed..

WEEWX now needs to change the conf file to ask for "key" instead of "password".

the change must come into force when changing the password - as I am still using old login and password.  Did you have to generate a new key or did you just use the original key as a password in weewx.conf?

Did you have to generate a new key

I don't think so.  I had only tried getting a new api key before which has nothing to do with contributing.
