I have a Davis Vantage Pro2, with the old console, and the values I see on the console do not agree with weewx. As an example, I currently have an outside temperature of 84.4°F, a relative humidity of 78% and a dewpoint of 76°F. But my weewx claims 85.2°F, 85% humidity, and a 80.2°F dewpoint.

My configuration file has nothing in the StdCalibrate section:

[StdCalibrate]

    [[Corrections]]
        # For each type, an arbitrary calibration expression can be given.
        # It should be in the units defined in the StdConvert section.
        # Example:
        foo = foo + 0.2

##############################################################################

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Jim

Please do the following:

1. Set debug=1 in weewx.conf.
2. Run weewxd directly from the command line, and post the output from startup through the first archive record. Make sure you post both LOOP and REC outputs. This will show us what values weewxd is processing. We will compare these values to the console.
3. For the same period of time, post the system log from the startup through the first archive record. This will show us internally what weewxd is doing.

The console says 75.1°F outside 90% humidity, 72°F dewpoint

I had to wait a bit to get both REC and LOOP output. It was all LOOP for a bit, but here's the first where I have both, and concurrent syslog.

Probably not what you want to hear, but I have no explanation for the difference. It's not something I've ever observed on any of my 3 VPro2 stations.

The only thing I can think of is to reset your console. Take out the batteries, unplug, wait a minute, then reassemble.

I should add that I'm assuming you have a standard setup. No SDR or anything like that.

Not what I want to hear, but I sort of wonder about that console anyway. When the batteries need to be replaced, I have to let it sit there unpowered for maybe 15-20 minutes before inserting the new batteries. Otherwise I just get garbled text on the screen. Do the new Davis consoles play nice with weewx?

Yeah, that's not normal.  Did you get your console when it was new, and has it always done that?  You could take the console apart and reset the ribbon cable between the circuit board and the display, and maybe blow it out in case there's any dust or something.  It's actually not difficult, remove a few screws and pop it apart.  It's been awhile since I've done it, but I don't remember any tricks to it.  I believe I've seen instructions on wxforum.net also.  In my case the display was faded, not garbled, but still might be worth a try.

Also, when you change batteries put it in the console in set-up first (done + - keys, at least on my old VP1) before removing the batteries.  I'm sure I've forgotten and never had problems, and I don't think that's likely to cause what you're seeing, but I think it's supposed to help from losing data and won't hurt.

Or you may want to try leaving it unplugged longer, like overnight, it you haven't already, before trying my other suggestion.  Of course you'll lose data, but that may be better than bad data.  If you do take it apart, be careful about static electricity, as when working with any electronics, ground yourself.

if the issue is that LOOP and REC records, at almost the same time, show different values, then it would be because they are evaluated over different time spans (LOOP is last “instantaneous" value, REC is average over your archive time and prob 5 minutes). if that’s not the issue, i will climb back into my box...

No, the issue is that what I read on the console and what appears on my Weewx website (and Wunderground) do not agree. For example, the console said the dewpoint was 72°F, but the LOOP and REC said 74.5°F. The humidity at the console was 90%, but both LOOP and REC say 97%. Outdoor temp differs as well. Presumably there are other discrepancies, but for brevity I am only focusing on those three. I have restarted both the weather envoy and the console, but the differences persist.

Wait. You have an Envoy? Is WeeWX hooked up to it, or the console?

The raspberry pi is hooked to the Envoy. I didn't know you could do it otherwise.

The data logger can be plugged into either the Envoy, or in the console. You have chosen the Envoy, which is no problem. They each have their own inside sensors (temperature, pressure), so it would not be surprising to see small differences between them. However, they both share the same outside sensors --- the ISS. You are seeing differences in outside measurements.

Does a neighbor own a Davis station? Perhaps the Envoy and console are receiving from different ISS packages?

It's possible that there's another ISS around here, but we're on acre lots, and I'm sure no direct neighbor has one. Plus the Envoy is in the basement which I imagine should limit its range.
