Hello,

Hoping someone has either seen this before, or can point me in the right direction.

Situation...

Weatherflow Tempest, (running for 3 years, 10 months)

WeeWX version 5.1.0, Skin Seasons 5.1.0

with weatherflowUDP on Raspberry Pi 5, Bookworm OS, installed this month.

Heavy rain on 7/28/2025

My question…

Does the default setup of Weewx and the UDP data collector need some specific tweak in order to report an appropriate rainfall amount?

Tempest reports 1.42" rain

Weewx reports 4.52" rain

Thoughts and appropriate feedback appreciated.

(In looking at the above 2 reports, the "duration-mins" seems odd. I'll have to look into that too!)

Weewx with UDP collector.

Thanks in advance!

No.

If you have WF Nearcast rain enabled in their app then their servers show what they think you received based on nearby stations. The weewx driver reports what your sensor actually measured. If you turn NC off in the WF app they should hopefully match.

I have found that if the sensor is not mounted on a GOOD STABLE mount, wind will cause erroneous rain
amounts. I also have a sensor near a RR track. When trains go by I see what looks like a small amount of
precip for the duration of the train passage. Had to move it a wee bit farther away from the RR track. It
was about 100 ft away, moved it another 50 ft and that got rid of most of it, only when a really loaded
car passes do you see any activity.
