Thanks (@Ian?) for (recently) updating the Wiki link to the gw1000
driver on this page:

I'd been waiting to swap my new-in-the-box GW3000 for my old GW1000
since August. Finally, noticing the working link yesterday, I
switched (so far as I can tell) without any problems. I look forward
to seeing backfill actually work. The problem with the GW1000 was
either it, my cable MODEM, my router, or my Linux computer would go
down during a thunderstorm, and, having no backfill, I'd lose the rain
data, which I need to plan irrigation for my orchard.

Now ... how to fix the "Hardware 'unknown model'" for GW3000 filled
from $station.hardware in the Seasons Skin output?

The unknown hardware shows up for me as well. I have a Ecowitt 1980 , using ecowitt- gw1000 driver and weewx 5.2. Besides of that the update to weewx 5.2 and installation of the driver was very smooth . Even uploading to AWEKAS has been succession.

There is a one-line list of valid Ecowitt models inside the gw1000.py
driver:

You may just be able to add your particular model to the list.

Thanks ! It worked . I substituted one other model for WN1980.
Restarted weewx and it shows up as expected.
