Hi,
in the documents for weewx it says: "WeeWX will not start up until the system time is later than 1 January 2000"

On my RPi I've (tried to) deinstall the fake-hwclock. Still, when the RPi boots, the date is not set back to epoch=0 (1979) but to Feb 14, 2019.

My weewx database starts in July 2019 only, so I can see two solutions for my issue:
1) Convince the RPi to forget about the Feb14 date and use an older one after booting. Does anyone know how to set this?
2) Or change the date that prevents weewx from starting (Jan 1, 2000). is this possible?

Thanks!

or 3) Fix it properly and install a real time clock - they cost peanuts and solve loads of issues!!

:). I have a RTC here in front of me. When trying to install it last week, I've crashed my entire installation and had to re-install weewx from scratch

I've never had a problem installing them.  Do need to make sure you have it sitting on the correct pins though and follow the instructions for your particular RTC.

What RTC module do you have?

I think the thin shim version from here
but i think I may have used a couple of different ones on different Pis!!!

Just to take a step back here, since v3.8.1 WeeWX should now wait until the system time is greater than the creation time
of the weewx.conf file before starting up. If this is not what is happening please let us know.

This may well be the case! I didn't have any issues with incorrect records/timestamps in my database.
Thanks for this information!

What version of Raspbian are you running ?
It's possible that systemd is 'helping' a bit too much.  It tends to do that.

Thanks, I finally was able to get it running!

Funny enough, some instructions in a review on amazon.de + another tutorial helped. The combination of both instructions did the job.
The original manual for the RTC module was entirely useless :(
