Langzeitstabilität Raspberry PI?

Hallo!

Ich bin gerade dabei mich in das Thema WEEWX einzuarbeiten.

Im Moment benutze ich einen Raspberry PI 4 mit 4GB RAM für die ersten
Versuche mit dem Simulator.
Ich verwende keine SD-Karte sondern habe eine SSD im Argon M2 Gehäuse
verbaut.

Von der Ausfallsicherheit sollte ich ja da schon besser aufgestellt sein
als bei einem Raspberry mit SD-Karte.

Welche Langzeiterfahrungen habt ihr mit den Raspberrys gemacht?

Hintergrund der Frage:
Ich möchte mir eine DAVIS Vantage anschaffen weil ich lange Spaß an
einer zuverlässigen Wetterstation haben möchte.

Daher komme ich ins überlegen ob der Raspberry dafür gut geeignet ist
oder ich eine Stufe höher zu einem NUC wechseln sollte.

station for a long time.

Therefore, I am considering whether the Raspberry is well suited for
this or I should switch to a NUC one level higher.

I've had RPi-1 with ADATA SDHC 16G for 2,5 years without issues.

I guess you want to set up a backup process irrespective of the hardware you use. (in german: "kein Backup, kein Mitleid") All hardware can fail. And it is considered a good idea to store that backup outside the house. At the web space you run your weather site for example. And practise restoring the backup somewhere on another computer.

Tom is running "Longevity experiment" which is at day 750 and running. Raspberry is nice platform if you have a good power (both power supply and a good gauge wire) and a good SD card.

running on RPi-3 since 2017. No flash issue I can remember of.

I have had no problems with long term stability. I have a UPS and use a ramdisk for my logs.
However, as I am now building stations that will be an hours drive away so I am using industrial SD cards in them.
They are just a few dollars more than a premium SD card and include more error correction.

I have a Pi 4 arriving soon to replace a Pi 3 in which the HDMI output
failed a long, long time ago. I have been running WeeWX headless since
that time. Raspberry Pi computers are very inexpensive, and it's not a
big deal to swap a new one in when necessary. However SD cards are not
designed for constant rewriting, so yes, an SSD is a very good choice.
