I'm having trouble with graphs I believe and I'm not sure why. Maybe it is my configuration.

If I click the YEAR tab, I'm seeing last June July August with much lower temps, under 90F than were actually recorded by the weather station. If you go to August 2019, it clearly shows 100+.

Is there something I'm doing wrong in the configurations for the graphs on my setup?

Also if you look at the heat-index, it shows much lower than were actually recorded. Heat Index here in Texas are 110F or higher in the summer. Not the mid 90s or upper 90s that is displayed.

Thanks for looking!

Can you double check if the graphs are accurately reflecting what's in the database? Pick a couple of database records from last summer and check on the temp readings. You want to use a database tool like DB Browser to review the data. Timestamps are in Unix Epochs and you'll likely need something like https://www.epochconverter.com/ to find your dates.

Remember, for year plots, the plots are aggregates. The default is to average over 24 hours, so it will smear out the highs and lows. If you want to see the real highs and lows, take a look in the Customizing Guide, section Including a type more than once in a plot.

I was not aware the graphs were averaging. I thought it showed actual temps in the graph.

I noticed in my graph list that it does not show the HIGH and LOW temp graphs in the skin I am using. I need to figure out how to include that graph as well.

I will check the customizing guide and see what it does for me. A moire accurate graph would be nice on outside temp in any case.

Well, you can switch off the aggregation, but then you are plotting potentially tens of thousands of points --- the graph would probably look like a seasonally undulating black blur.

I don't know what you mean by "graph list," but if you mean the set of graphs included in the Seasons skin then, no, they do not include a graph of high and low temperatures. But, as you saw, it is very easily added. That's what the Customizing Guide is there for: so you can get exactly what you want.

Hi Tom,

As a relatively new user of weewx I have to say I'm completely with Joe on this, and was on the point of making a similar comment.  I'm not saying the graphs are wrong if you know what they are telling you, but they are very wrong if you make reasonable (but incorrect) assumptions about what they are saying.
In particular my new weather station provides UV data, also new for me so of particular interest.  If I look at a day graph the range goes from 0 to 8 - looks good.  For a week same range but peaks are more like 7.5, for a month the range is 0 to 7 with peaks about 6.5.  If I look at a year (I only have 5 months of data) the range goes from 0 to 4 - there is one peak at 4, otherwise the range would have been 0 to 2.  So what I'm saying is that for UV at least if I only looked at the year chart I would get a totally misleading picture of UV amounts.

When I look at the other graphs in detail I see similar patterns, just not as extreme.  Explained now I know the plots are aggregates, just not what I wanted/was expecting.

The fantastic thing about weewx is I can replace the skin and/or reconfigure it (which I will do - just that otherwise I really liked the season skin) but I would argue that the default skin/configuration should be clearer in what its showing or could be better configured (though please don't ask me how this is achieved or what the best configuration is)

Perhaps something to consider for a future release

Bob

Good points. We should work the aggregation interval into the title.

Any volunteers? It's just HTML and Javascript!
