Cloud Base appearing, why?

Following an apt upgrade, Cloud Base values have begun appearing in my database and skin. I have never had a cloud sensor. I am using the WeatherFlow driver and an extension for the Ecowitt sensors. Thanks for any info on this.

You didn't give much detail about your upgrade. From what version? To what version? Did you keep your old weewx.conf, or accept the installer's offer to install a new one?

Starting with V4.0, cloudbase was included in the list of calculations to be performed in weewx.conf. However, this would only affect you if you installed a new version of weewx.conf. If you kept your old version (the default), the same calculations as before the upgrade would be performed.

V4.0 also introduced the "wview_extended" schema, which has a slot for cloudbase. Again, this would only affect you if you changed database schemas --- old schemas would act as before.

Is there a problem?

The upgrade was from 4.1 to 4.2. Weewx.conf was not changed. I have been using the extended schema for a month or more before this upgrade, with no problems. I do not understand why a value for Cloud Base should suddenly appear, since I don't have any sensor that would provide a value and cloudBase is not referenced in any extension I use. It has been and should be null in the database, but it is not.

Cloudbase is a calculated quantity (like windchill), not a measured quantity. It is a function of temperature, humidity, altitude. Don't know why you didn't see it before.

Is it a problem?

Thanks; I didn't realize this was calculated. I've removed it from my skin since the value is not meaningful. Yesterday, for example, skies were clear all day but the reported cloud base was around 15000 feet.
