Weewx won't update web page

System has been running for years with no issue.  Recently, during the past few days,  won't update the web page. I went to the troubleshooting guide and tried re-setting the Vantage Pro (not Pro 2) console by taking the batteries out and unplugging it from the power supply. BTW - console batteries check good and power supply tests as 5V with no AC ripple.

After a console reset the web page update still did not work so I executed the dump and clear commands per the troubleshooting guide. Still no good.

Then I went into the system log after setting debug=1 and found weewx was "unable to wake up Vantage Console", obviously an issue, and have tried to troubleshoot that.

I'm stuck.

I can go to a terminal window and execute wee_device --info and get a response like this:

Here is a section of log at the failure. It fails, then does some sort of retry. It seems able to talk to the console on the second try. BTW -  My CWOP station is updating normally :

Looking at some of the conversations, my issues are identical to what is being discussed in the "4.9.1 Issue" conversation.  Seems it is an issue that cropped up with the latest release and is being worked on.

My system is an old Vantage Pro 1 (not the 2).

Downgraded to 4.8.0  and the system works again.
