I recently updated Weewx from ver 3.7.1 to 4.2.0 on a PI 2.   After nearly 3 years running continuously it was time to get a new SD card going. The 3.7.1 update was from a earlier version 3 or later version 2 system. Hardware - Davis Vantage 2 with USB datalogger and USB connection to the PI. All code and drivers are straight out of the box from Debian/Raspbian installation.
Back after the upgrade to 3.7.1 was made, all windDir outputs to charts and reporting to sites (CWOP, Wunderground on 5 minute intervals) were in discrete 22 degree increments.  Back then, after searching the forums, a fix had been posted to get the average wind direction over the reporting interval rather than the discrete values. As I recall it was a simple change to a couple of code lines. Naturally, I didn't record the fix anywhere.  After trying all the same searches on windDir, degrees, ordinals etc, I can't fix the fix so I can apply it to the 4.2.0 version.
I would appreciate any help. I don't want to revert to my Weewx 3.7.1 imaged card for multiple reasons.
Thanks in advance!

I remember that discussion, but can't find it either.

The Vantage stations do their own record generation. For whatever reasons, they put out windDir in discrete 22.5° intervals. So, that's what you get with the default hardware record generation.

If you want WeeWX to calculate the archive  records, set record_generation=software. Then you will get the vector averaged direction.

I thank you! My faulty memory told me it was more than a line change in weewx.conf. Simple and it worked.
Thanks again
