Am I the only person who has lost their 'reply to author' pick in the new not-improved google groups ?   The top-post default is also beyond annoying.

Does anybody have an alternate way to get the group that works in a browser or a Mac client ?    I'd prefer to not have to enable getting a zillion emails, the old groups interface was far more effective.

(Tom/Matthew - have you thought about the Github 'Discussions' feature as a possibility for possibly moving from Google Groups at some day down the road ?)

Thought about it, but decided to stay put. Personally, I like the email interface. Makes searching and integration with my development tools much easier.

My $0.02.

I read this as email using gnus, after sorting based on List-Id:, which
gives me threading and scoring and reading mail without a mouse. I
would find a move to anything forum-like appalling. I've long been
bothered by github pretending to have full project hosting and not
having mailinglists. If there was someting forum-like, I might pay
attention some, but I would probably stop trying to help people. I know
I'm not typical :-)

I am also not a fan of requiring people to sign up with github to
participate in discussions.

The mailing list is misconfgured and puts in
Reply-To: weewx...@googlegroups.com
so that the "reply" action in one's Mail User Agent, defined to reply
to the sender, composes a reply to the list. This is distressingly
common these days.

It might make sense to migrate the list to groups.io. Yes, you have to
sort of sign up with them, but they are smaller and that seems less
bothersome than github and certainly less bothersome than google,
although one can (and I do) subscribe to google groups without an
account.

No. I use the *claws-mail* app to read the corresponding USE-net
News Group.
