Hi,

I would like to know if it possible in futur to add in database values from OMM standard. At the moment, Weewx calculate each 00AM to 00PM.

Some users that I can talk with, would like to have this option on Weewx.

Sorry. Can you give us more details? I do not know what the OMM standard is. And, I don't know what you mean by "Weewx calculate each 00AM to 00PM"

Hi Tom,

OMM have a standard method to calculate Tn, Tx, RR, etc. It is World Meteorological Organization if you don't know in English.

Weewx calcule each day from 00AM to 00PM but WMO (OMM in French) say that :

TN: 6 p.m. UTC the day before until 6 p.m. UTC the same day
TX and RR: 6h UTC the same day at 6h UTC the next day
Wind / Insolation / Cloudiness / Pressure: 0h UTC the same day at 0h UTC the next day

So much people who comes from Europe that I talk with would like to have this option in sql database.

Hi,

What do you think about this feature ?

Best regards,

As I said in an earlier email

It would be a large project. Not only does weewx (sensibly) assume that a day starts at midnight, so do the underlying Python functions upon which it relies. It would require not only rewriting all of the stats calculations, but also providing alternatives for Python staples such as datetime.datetime (which is used to calculate the start of a month, etc.).

I should add, it would also require either rebuilding all daily summaries to reflect a different start time, or include another daily summary with the different start time.

Very useful feature, but a lot of work. Who's going to take it on?

Hmm, seems this thread has managed to spill into the user forum as well....

If I am understanding the intent correctly this would seem to be a step up in complexity from what has previously been discussed at issue #91. I always understood the intent of issue #91 to be that instead of defining the meteorological day from midnight to midnight as is currently the case a user could define it as, say, 9am to 9am or 12pm to 12pm. This meteorological day would then be used for all obs/reporting. But the intent here seems to be a different meteorological day for different obs.

Hi everyone,

Having talked to a person, why not create a driver to response for that ?

It is a best choice to not change the Weewx instance.

Hi,

The implementation of there original change you suggest does not require a new/changed driver but rather substantial changes to the WeeWX archive service as well a a number of peripheral utilities/code, there is no way to avoid this. As Tom said a big job.
