Tom,

For several months I runned succesful weewx version 4.0.0a4 with raspbian stretch on a raspberry Pi 2B.

Today I installed from scratch raspbian buster lite (2020-02-13) and weewx version 4.0.0b14.

With each loop message I now get a debug message:
DEBUG weewx.wxservices: Unknown extensible type 'dayRain'

Any clues what causes this?

Luc

Hmmm... how about a little more information?
  1. Can you give the context of the error? More of the log would help.
  2. I don't know why wxservices would be trying to calculate dayRain. Do you have it listed under [StdWXCalculate]?
  3. Where is dayRain used? Is it used in your skins?
I did change how the accumulators work in 4.0.0b14, but I don't see how it would affect dayRain.

Tom,

The value of dayRain isn't used in any skin.
It is used in meteotemplate.py where the value of dayRain is multiplied by 10 to convert cm to mm.

It was listed under [StdWXCalculate]:

[StdWXCalculate]
...
    [[Calculations]]
...
        dayRain = software

I can't remember why I have put it there.
I guess the  earlier versions of weewx didn't have debug logging to report this.
I have removed the setting in [StdWXCalculate] and all is working fine now.

Thanks for your help..

Luc

It's not an unreasonable thing to calculate (although, perhaps not on every LOOP packet). The V4 version of StdWXCalculate is extensible, so you can add it if you want, but you'd have to provide the algorithm.

See the Wiki article Proposal for user-defined types.
