Hey everyone,

Quick post to let everyone now that a new project for Delivery Models is being discussed. The main idea is to make a deeper analysis, using Zoe's thesis as a starting point, affecting funds for a person to perform field work, and broaden the scope of Zoe's thesis not only to maintenance but also to installation, local training, and the economics of how spare parts are paid, gathering best practices within our members.

It would be great to hear everyone's input on this, and also to know if there are other projects that you think should be evaluated at this moment.

Cheers
Esteban

How about breaking into different points (as you mentioned Esteban) and have different people tackling a point, as we have seen - it can become overwhelming for one individual as we are all focused in various other tasks within our own work...

I would like to take on local training and or installation as I can link it to the work I am currently doing :)

Cheers,
Jess

That's a great idea!
So the different points would be:

- maintenance (already done in Zoe's thesis)
- local training (maybe Jess)
- installation (maybe Jess)
- economics of spare parts (tbd)
- other?

Cheers

Hey everyone,

We just had a skype with Zoe, and the following was discussed:

These topics could be adressed:

- local training (maybe Jess)
- installation (maybe Jess)
- more detail on how the training to locals is done / different types of training for different types of communities
- supply chain (where materials are purchased, whether there are local spare parts or not)
- end use: identify productive uses for the energy. what was already done within different members

Not all of these topics have to be included in the study, and the scope will be defined based on availability of members / external students to carry out each study. Jon, any suggestions of people interested to participate?

One important issue to solve is how to ensure the involvment of all members to supply information to whoever is doing one of the above tasks, so that the inputs for the analysis are guaranteed.

Once tasks and responsibles are defined, we can write down a document for the proposal to Wisions, similar to the following, which is being written for the Education WG.

More opinions are most welcome.
Cheers

Esteban

Sounds like we are moving forward!

I had a wee chat with Zoe and I was thinking that since she had a low response from the members we could attempt to send an email asking all members who are interested. They would be given the opportunity to participate if interested and those that do not can not say later we did not try contacting them. Even if it is just a handful of orgs that participate we can start from there and start gathering the information needed.

The only other thing left to figure out is how many people are still active or wanting to be active in the Delivery Models group?

An other option would be to pair up with the maintenance WG, who already have a big proposal for a second edition of the maintenance manual. Zoe's entire thesis is on the link between delivery models and maintenance, so this could be an ideal way to disseminate some of her findings and gather some more info where necessary....

Cheers,
Jon
