Dear All
A HUGE thank you to the team from Long March to Freedom for a fabulous afternoon yesterday with such generous hospitality and spot-on organisation. Tumo will share more pics so this is just one snap I took. We experienced their Grade 10 programme and all thoroughly enjoyed it and learnt a lot! For those who could not make yesterday - do yourself a favour and visit Long March to Freedom soon!

I had a thought... Wouldn't it be cool to have a statue/s of some generic 'ordinary' people (i.e. not famous/remarkable) in the procession  -like all the grandmothers who raise and support children in our country on pensioners grants, or those hard working people who struggle every day to make their kids' lives better etc...  and/or like a selfie statue/mirror statue where youngsters can put themselves in the procession and imagine their responsibility and potential to contribute to freedom.

Just thought those would open up some interesting conversations too... what do others think?

See you in October!
Helen

Good Morning All

Thank you Helen for the kind words and, on behalf of the LMTF team, an equally huge thank you to everyone who joined yesterday. It was a great pleasure to meet you all and make new contacts and friends in the museum community. We hope you enjoyed yourselves as much as we did! If you couldn’t make it we hope you get another chance to visit Long March to Freedom soon. A few pics attached, we will share a link on Thursday to download more.

It was indeed lucky the weather held just long enough and the visit wasn’t planned for today…stay warm and dry everyone...

All the best

Sarah

Dear Helen

I missed yesterday's visit due to a prior engagement but I have viewed the exhibition along with adults and children, a few times.  Each one accompanying me found something to appreciate about the exhibition.  Both your ideas are great!   Please forward it to Dali Tambo and team for their consideration.  I cannot think of any reason why it would not be implemented because it would augment an already great exhibition.

Thank you for all your efforts to keep us informed.

Best wishes

Regina
