Good evening all,

On the 3rd of August, the 8th anniversary of this backer funded game will arrive. I have posted over at Rogue Genius Games and am hoping for an update from Owen K.C. Stephens himself. Fingers crossed, it may be good news!

And to think, so many of us were excited again when this changed hands.

I'd love for this book to see the light of day. I'm not giving up hope. Heck, I had my copy paid for years ago. But it does feel like it's the Lost Dutchman of RPGs...

Wow, I had forgotten about this. So if it ever does see the "light of day" will it be for Pathfinder 1st edition, Starfinder or Pathfinder 2nd ed??

I'd prefer PF1 or SF myself. I have no plans on buying into a new edition of Pathfinder. Though the leather bound edition does look nice.

A PF2 version would be completely unusable for me... mind you, so would a PF1 version these days to be honest. Sold all my books after the release of 5e, and can't see myself ever going back to PF 1 or 2.
A SF version has a very small (but non-zero) chance of actually seeing play at some point... but even that is vanishingly unlikely.

That being said, I think a "standalone" game based on the PF1 ruleset would be best, though I expect we're much more likely to never see anything at this stage.

Hi folks.
The first message in this chain went out while I was driving from Seattle to Indiana, having left Paizo and gone back to being a full-time freelancer. The most recent ones catch me in the hospital getting iv antibiotics.
But you certainly deserve information.
Please remember that Warlords of the Apocalypse was not a "backer funded game" the way that term is used nowadays. Adamant Entertainment took preorders when they thought they were close to being done, but those preorders did not raise the games' budget.
Super Genius Games then bought the rights and existing material from Adamant, and all preorders became their responsibility. I was part of Super Genius at the time, and did most of the company's work on the project.
Then Super Genius bought me out, and I was no longer part of that company. When I left, the rights to Warlords, and the need to fulfill those preorders, went with me.
I continued to work on the project, but have clearly not done enough to either get it out, or keep this group well enough in the loop.
So, Warlords has transferred once again, to Platform 3 toys.
Here's the announcement that went out about that:
For Immediate Release:
Owen K.C. Stephens, publisher for Rogue Genius Games, announces he has sold the Anachronistic Adventures line of products, as well as the as-yet unpublished Warlords of the Apocalypse, to Production Platform 3 Toys, LLC.
"Anachronistic Adventures has been a very popular line for us, but despite my best efforts I was never able to get Warlords of the Apocalypse off the ground. PP3 made an offer for both that includes honoring the small number of preorders WotA already has, and even with as patient as those customers have been, I thought it was time to give someone else a chance to actually make that game happen."
Michael McNeill, of Production Platform 3 Toys, LLC, noted "I'm stupidly excited to be tackling this!"
"He has all my notes, the art we commissioned... I'm looking forward to actually seeing a game I can play!," Owen added.
Further inquires regarding RGG's future plans can be directed to rogue.gen...@gmail.com.

So, I never managed to finish the game, and for that apologize. None of the money you all spent in preorders ever made it's way to anyone after Adamant (in fact SGG paid Adamant for Warlords). I spent yet more out of pocket trying to get this off the ground, and while I have transferred all the writing and art assets to PP3 as part of this deal, I did not recoup those costs. Nevertheless you were my customers and I never succeeded in getting you this game.
I hope you will all direct any frustration and dissappointed about this long delay at me, rather than PP3, who have had nothing to do with your long wait.
You can follow them on Facebook.

I hope we'll eventually all have a game we can appreciate and enjoy.
Owen K.C. Stephens

I believe that OKC just recently gave this IP to another person to develop. I can’t recall his name ATM. But, he seemed to be enthusiastic about getting it into development

Huh. Sorry about that, I somehow didn’t get Owen’s update in the chain before I posted. Hope you feel better Owen!

The FB page referenced has an update and a cool cover illustration for WotA

Does anyone know if the pre-orders a few of us made will be honored? I supported this project from square one. I'd prefer to not be thrown under a bus.

Yes, the preorders--as were given to me by Super Genius, and to Super Genius by Adamant, will be honored by  Platform 3 Toys.
That was part of my agreement with them.

Thank you for the clarification Owen. Though when the book ships I'll have to change my shipping address, we no longer live in the place I placed the order from. I hope things work out well for the project.

Owen,
Thanks for chiming in about this. I had missed the Platform 3 announcement.  Good to know this project may still see the light of day.

Hi All,

The 10th anniversary is only a few months away. Has anyone heard anything?

Sorry, I haven't been checking for much lately.

I'm still hoping. A set of game rules I've looked forward to for a decade.

At least we haven't gotten so old we've forgotten the project still exists. I'll be fifty-seven in September and finally actually be Tetsubo57 (my YouTube handle).
