Hello,
I’m the Staff Archaeologist at the Society for American Archaeology (and a relatively new WAPA member), and I was wondering if you could help spread the word to WAPA about an upcoming public archaeology event.
SAA is sponsoring an Archaeology Storytime on Saturday, August 17 in DC. It’s at the Metropolitan AME Church, 10 AM-2 PM, and it's focused on storytelling through objects. I’ve asked other local organizations to each bring artifacts or objects that illustrate an engaging, personal, or unusual story, particularly ones that touch on local or underrepresented histories. In addition to SAA, there will be DC Archaeology, Alexandria Archaeology, the Virtual Curation Lab, the Veterans Curation Program, Mount Vernon, Montpelier, and Archaeology in the Community there. This will be free and open to the public, with interactive activities for all ages. A local children’s librarian will do two storytime performances. A flyer is attached, and we've made a Facebook event, if you think others in the WAPA network might be interested. Thank you for spreading the word, if you're able!
Thank you,
Beth
