Public Anthropology Conference 2025:
Call for Participation and Registration

After a seven-year hiatus, the Department of Anthropology at American University is excited to announce that the Public Anthropology Conference is back! Our 2025 convening – Public Knowing, Public Change – will take place on November 7 and 8 at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Public Library in Washington, D.C., and the Call for Participation and Registration are now live on our conference website. 
 
Call for Participation 
We welcome submissions for a wide range of participation types for our 2025 conference and theme. Interested participants may apply as: 
 
  • Individual presentations (Papers, Abstracts) 
  • Groups of presentations (Panels) 
  • Non-traditional sessions (Workshops, teach-ins, author talks, films, and more) 
  • Tabling / exhibit hall participants  
 
In addition to inviting submissions from anthropological professors, lecturers, and professionals, we also encourage applications from students, independent or interdisciplinary scholars, and community organizations.  
 
The deadline for submission is Sunday, August 24 at 11:59pm EST.

Registration 
Registration for PAC 2025 is free and open to the public. Donations to support conference costs are welcome and encouraged on a sliding scale. Register here: https://www.pubanthcon.com/registration
