I see that ICOM announced the IC-7760 back in August 2024.

It looks interesting - dual receivers, 200W, remote head over ethernet, I/Q signal output, lots of other goodies.

But I also noticed that while it's nice that they're including video output for the main display, it's DVI.
I'm left wondering about this decision, in a time when the common display port on monitors, and even on most TVs, is HDMI.

Yes, you can buy an adapter or DVI -> HDMI cable for about $10, but it seems like a weird decision to me.
Unless it's a cost-cutting thing...which would be weird on a radio that's apparently going to cost about $6K

I believe HDMI interfaces used to require special licensing and so Icom has consistently used DVI for three generations of its radios

Icom maintains consistency between its models to provide simple replacement. It also has consistent interfaces and menus between models for the same ease of use.

So I could easily replace my 7610 with a 7760 and not need to change any station cabling for my external monitor.

Your mileage may vary.

A friend (Mukesh KE3VG in MD) sent me a pic of the radio and matching Icom PW-2 amplifier… Looks pretty sweet!

DX Engineering is still taking pre-orders. Is it generally available elsewhere?
