Antenna building workshop next month!

Hi everyone,

First of all, big thanks to George KC1UYC, Matt KN6HTM, Andrew K1LOZ, and Chris KI1P for their support for the Groton Forest Trail Run last weekend! There were a few small technical hiccups that were quickly overcome, and the race coordinators were impressed with CVARCs aptitude and flexibility when it came to passing the right traffic efficiently. Well done, team!

For our meeting next month, we’re going to meet on Wednesday October 8th at the old Middlesex Fire Station - 473 Shady Rill Road, Middlesex VT 05602. We will be building directional VHF antennas for radio direction finding (aka 

foxhunting), so if you are interested in building an antenna, please respond to this email so we can get an idea of what to buy for materials. We ask that non club members contribute $10 each to help with the materials cost.

There's a correction to which Middlesex Fire Station we will be meeting at on 8 Oct.  It's actually 55 Welch Park Dr.

Here's a link to the design files for the antenna. CVARC will provide all materials free of charge to CVARC members; non-members are asked for a suggested donation of $5 each to help cover cost of materials.

If you have tools, please bring them! We have enough for a few stations, but not for everyone at once. We'll need:

Wire cutters/strippers

Soldering irons (100W gun type)

Flux-core leaded solder

Tin snips or aviation shears (must be able to cut thin steel)

Sandpaper or a bench grinder
