LC Vermont side Thompsons Point, Charlotte

4 Charlotte skaters launched from the end of Thompsons Point this morning and skated to just north of Palisades. Everything skateable no rubble bands and intermittent lanes of smooth grey ice but also plenty of rough surfaces. A couple of very little step over ridges. We were too stubborn to drive to Westport especially with the ferry not running and this ice is far inferior to that. You could drive down a one lane barely plowed road with almost nowhere to park or there are some places to park before entering the road that says "no turnaround"

One note of caution if you insist on going here (and looking at the pics of Westport I don't know why you would).......we did encounter a number of barely skimmed over water (wind?)holes. Mostly small ones but some large enough to go for a swim. They were not always easy to spot.

On the other hand, because JR was in our group, we did find the best lunch spot on the lake.....
