Summer Sk802 event!

Hi Everyone,

Sk802 is planning an event to celebrate 8/02 (the Sunday after next). We'll be skating the Burlington Bike Path for various distances (marathon, half marathon and some smaller distance TBD).

I plan to skate 26.2 miles starting at 8:02 am, while several others plan to skate 13.1 miles starting at 9:30 am. I anticipate the first half will be more technically challenging, with some hills, broken pavement and skating on quiet streets, while the second half will be entirely on the bike path. We'll be taking breaks and going at a leisurely pace with the goal of having creemees at at least one break.

We're currently planning to leave from Leddy Park as it has free parking and easy access to the bike path. Proposed routes attached below.

Location: Leddy Parking Lot to various mileages up to full marathon

• 8:02am Rob (plan skate the first half-marathon, then meet up with the 9:30 group for the second half-marathon)
• 9:30am Chi and Kitty + Rob (plan inclusive group beginners welcome - distance as short as 5 miles and up to 13.1 miles - second half-marathon - many opportunities to turn back)

hiya all. i would have liked to skate the longer distance tomorrow, but getting to leddy park before 8am from glens falls, n.y. is a bit much for me. so, i'll be there around 9:15 to catch the 2nd part of the skate :-) see you then. john s.

thanks to all for organizing the skate yesterday. i had a fun time. that's a very nice trail along lake champlain although quite a bit "busier" than the trails i skate over here in n.y. maybe see a few of you on the "wild ice" in the winter :-)  john s.
