Lakes of the clouds NH 11/2

I started up in the dark this morning to see about ice on Lakes of the clouds. Just after sunrise, a crested the ridge into my delight so awesome beautiful black ice on the pond. It was about 2 inches thick where it was exposed, but definitely thinner in the sections that had snow on them, I generally just skated the areas that were exposed. The conditions were so nice I spent a couple hours skating in circles up there, getting my skate legs back under me.

       I thought about Bob Dill a lot when I was up there, this skates for you, Bob. Thank you for your service to your community and for all of the knowledge that you conveyed so willingly to myself, and so many others over the years.

Congratulations Evan, for the first ice report, of  the season, and skate on natural ice ! Nice tribute to Bob too.

Nice photo, sunshine on Mt Washington is rare and very special.
