I just scouted Keiser Pond in Danville Vt. It had an inch of ice on it. Looked like brand new ice. Probably with last night being clear and with no wind, radiational cooling happened . If no clouds move in tonight, I am hoping another inch might grow? I could be very wrong, but plan on heading up there in the morning with full gear to check it out. I had it all with me today, but not quite enough yet to venture out on.

Joes Pond was also skimmed over on the bay by the road. The large part, going North to South, was open water. Molly’s Pond is open water, but some skimming was starting by the dam.

Hi Diana, if for any reason you strike out at Keiser Pond this unnamed swamp pond off of 232 headed up into Groton State Forest off of Route two had about three-quarter inches of slush ice on it on Tuesday, with another inch or two of slush unfrozen underneath that. It was probably plenty thick enough today and definitely will be by the morning. the surface was orange peel but looked like pretty good Skating . I figured I'd give you or anybody else a back up just in case the ice doesn't thicken up tonight. With the radiational cooling and the projected low temperature Cold spots, I don't think it's impossible that it could grow an inch. But it's also possible that the farther was thinner than what you were able to measure close to shore. There Is not a lot of parking and you do have to walk down a bank to get to the pond, but it's not that bad.
