Greetings:
I just built and tested bleeding-edge Vim yesterday. It has been a
while, but I thought I'd give it a test drive.
Noticeable immediately was a big performance improvement when scrolling
a large file with a whole lot of syntax highlighting. The scrolling was
very fast and smooth, when before the screen updating used to lag. Way
to go Vim!
One thing that still happens in such cases occurs when 'showcmd' is set.
At the bottom right, I can see the escape code for the mouse scroll
wheel flicker.
This is not critical ("It ain't broken!"), but I was wondering: how
difficult would it be to disable 'showcmd' while scrolling so that this
escape code is not visible.
If this can easily be done, then the scrolling experience will be
perfect. :)
