Vim Logo rights

Someone made a nice patch but there is the question of "rights" to sell.  See:

Can he sell it? Is there a copyright on the image?

Yes, copyright applies, just like it applies to any text or design.
However, people are free to use the Vim logo so long as it's used for the
promotion of Vim.
Just like with open source, you can ask money for it if you like.
It's an open market.
