":help :browse" says:

{only in Win32, Athena, Motif, GTK and Mac GUI}

That suggests that :browse works only in the GUI, but it also
works when running in a terminal on Linux when built as a Normal
version with GTK2 GUI and on Cygwin when built as a Normal version
without a GUI but with with -DFEAT_BROWSE. So is the note trying
to say that those are the only GUI types that support :browse?

I think that note should be clarified to say that :browse works in
Vi and GUI modes, but only when compiled with the +browse feature
and in GUI mode only in the Win32, Athena, Motif, GTK and Mac GUIs.
Maybe the following?

{in Vi or GUI mode only when compiled with the +browse
feature and in GUI mode only in Win32, Athena, Motif,
GTK and Mac GUI}

Regards,
Gary

In a terminal only ":browse edit" works, and only if there is a plugin
that defines the FileExplorer autocommand group. This is not
documented, it appears. I'll add a few notes.
