Seems a common enough problem that there should be earlier reports, but
I couldn't find any.

I commonly use visual mode to mark things. Within an editor window, I
use y and p. Between editor windows, I use y and middle-click. If I do
that, it turns:
a b c
into:
a b c

The problem seems to be on the receiving side. If I middle-click into a
different editor, I get tabs. If I use "*p I get tabs. But "*p is
rather annoying to type, compared with middle-click.

Pretty sure that middle-click used to work as expected in the past. It
might do additional indentation if "paste" was off, but it wouldn't
convert things beyond that.

I have reproduced the problem with 8.1, 7.4 and 7.3. The last was on a
remove machine via ssh.

Thoughts? Also, is there a simple way to install vim 5.0 or similar to
see whether my memory matches reality?
