TVH for November 19th: Panorama to Little Stony Man
HUNT LOFTIN
The hike will start from the Panorama parking lots located off of Rt. 211 adjacent to the entrance to the Shenandoah National Park (SNP). The hike basically follows the Appalachian Trail (AT). We hike south (left) on the AT from the Panorama parking lots up to, and taking, the short spur that leads to Mary's Rock. We then hike from Mary's Rock back to the AT heading south (right) to Little Stony Man. If the weather is nice, we can stop at this overlook for a snack / lunch or head back (north) on the AT to a nearby picnic area for a break. Thereafter, we follow the AT north to the Panorama parking lots where our cars are located.
Please bring adequate water and snacks/lunch. Dress appropriately for the weather and wear appropriate footwear.
Meet at Centreville Park and Ride at 6:50 am for 7:00 AM departure or at the Panorama parking lots at 8:15 AM. The lower Panorama parking lot is accessible from Rt. 211 without having to enter SNP. Public bathrooms are located at the Panorama lots.
