Hello Flor

My streaming of WNYC New York public radio station has returned to my Roberts radio and my Alexa devices, much to my delight and without any input from me.

Tune into Brain Lehrer show 3pm weekdays well worth a listen.

On a separate issue I received an email from and learned of the new price that will be charged for the use of my screen reader JAWS which is considerable.

In the recent BBC 4 programme In Touch, Peter White interviews Ryan Jones Vispero, Freedom Scientifics parent  licensing company of  JAWS and they gave poor reasoning to the price charged  to American customer verses the British customer and the cost to Irish customer is more due to the differential between sterling and the euro, perhaps a listen to In Touch would clarify what I say.

Are you aware of any representation been regarding pricing of JAWS made on behalf of the VIP community in Ireland as I haven’t heard of any.

Sorry Flor if this is somewhat off topic for the site

Take care

Johnny

Hi Johnny,

Thanks for the contribution, and the programme nope. Good to hear from you.

It's not really off topic here to mentionb JAWS since it concerns the very means many of us use to access these emails.

Sounds like it was a tech issue, albeit a large one, with WNYC.

I'm very aware of the turmoil surrounding the price increases with Vispero/FS, Sight & Sound, and JAWS at this time. I don't know what representations, if any, Vision Ireland are making on the issue. (Sight & Sound are also their supplier in chief of JAWS. I myself mostly deal with Sight & Sound directly. However, this is a good area for Talking Technology to be delving into, and a voice note or two from people on the matter wouldn't kill anybody supporting or listening!)
This is an opportunity for me to inform that I have a major, or total fibre, broadband upgrade from Eir coming this Saturday morning, moved forward today from 22 September. I'll be on 5Gb download speeds after that.

If you use an iPhone, there is an NPR app that enables streams from various stations on that network to be accessed and heard.
