As you may know from social media, Dr. Moore-Merrell; Chief Fire Marshal Flynn, New York City Fire Department (FDNY); Dr. Stephen Kerber, Vice President & Executive Director, Fire Safety Research Institute; and Chief John Butler, President, IAFC - International Association of Fire Chiefs gave testimony before the Subcommittee on Emergency Management and Technology on “Examining Fire Hazards: Lithium-ion Batteries and Other Threats to Fire Safety.” If you missed the livestream, you could review the recording.
USFA is continuing the conversation on lithium-ion batteries by hosting a webinar,
“Battery
Fires: Before, During, and After the Incident.”
Battery fires have become one of the most challenging and perplexing incidents for the fire service in recent years. With the continued growth in the use and sale of battery-powered devices, the corresponding increase in battery fires warrants a critical conversation
about how the fire service can mitigate and respond to battery fire incidents. You will hear from subject matter experts on the key concepts to consider when developing community risk reduction and response plans.
