IAFBA GARIMA GRANT – IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR NEXT OF KIN (NOK) OF DECEASED AIR VETERANS
Dear Air Veterans and Families,
Jai Hind.
Many veterans and their families are unaware that the IAFBA Garima Grant is available to the Next of Kin (NoK) of a deceased Air Veteran, regardless of whether the veteran was receiving a service pension.
The grant is intended to assist the family in conducting the last rites of a deceased Air Veteran with dignity.
Current Provisions
With effect from 01 June 2026, the Garima Grant has been enhanced to ₹25,000.
The grant is paid by the Indian Air Force Benevolent Association (IAFBA).
The earlier Air Force Association (AFA) Ex-Gratia Grant of ₹7,500 has been discontinued.
Eligibility
The Next of Kin (NoK) of a deceased Air Veteran is eligible to claim the Garima Grant, provided the deceased was an eligible retired Air Force veteran.
The grant is not restricted to pensioners only. Families of non-pensioner retired Air Veterans are also eligible, subject to submission of the prescribed documents.
Documents Required
The NoK should generally submit the following documents:
Death Certificate of the deceased Air Veteran.
PPO (Pension Payment Order) or Discharge Book/Service Certificate as proof of Air Force service.
Bank account details of the claimant (NoK).
A declaration stating that the Garima Grant has not been claimed from any other Air Force agency.
Families are advised to submit the required documents promptly to facilitate timely processing of the claim.
