Hi!

This is possible but it is not really that supported. I managed to create a python script that opens a cif file in the GUI and dumps a screenshot. However, I am unable to set an absolute zoom scale and the quality is not really great.

Koichi has said that it should be possible to do more of this, so I hope he will also respond to this and help us out. I know there is some docs around, but the software doesn't really do what the docs explain.

My program is for the Linux version only, but if you would like to have a look I can send you the code.

Best regards

A few command line features are recently implemented in VESTA itself but not documented yet.

On Linux and Windows, you can use the following command.
VESTA -open file1.cif -export_img scale=2 file1.png

If "sacle" option is omitted, the default scale is 1.

On macOS, the app bundle should be called through the "open" command;
open -n -a VESTA.app --args -open file1.cif -export_img scale=2 file1.png

In pp.22-25 of the following slides you can check other command currently implemented.

Best regards,
Koichi
