Hi all,
I'm very impressed with Vert.x. Its performance, features and ease of use are outstanding.
I am considering proposing a wider use of it at my work place.
For that purpose, I'd like to know if there's any commercial license or support available for Vert.x.

I saw on the official web site, that currently there are 5 full time developers on the project.
However I could not find anywhere, who is supporting the efforts of these developers.
Is there a company that provides financial support for the project and can ensure it's future?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

there is no company at the moment providing support for Vert.x

I think we need to make the distinction between support and the development of Vert.x

While there is no support (at the moment) and although Vert.x development is partly sponsored by Red Hat, Vert.x remains an independent project of the Eclipse foundation and part of its development is achieved by the community (such as the recent Scala support).

Besides I believe that while Red Hat is an important sponsor for Vert.x and has much contributed to the development of the Vert.x stack (all the modules), Vert.x futures is insured thanks to its great community and the Eclipse foundation.

well I did not mean “all the modules” but I rather mean that the concept of stack above Vert.x core was developed when Red Hat increased the funding of Vert.x three years ago.

many modules are managed by non Red Hat employe such as vertx-lang-scala by Jochen, vertx-consul-client by Ruslan, vertx-mail-client by Alex, vertx-mongo-client is maintained by Martijn, vertx-rabbitmq-client is maintained by Guillaume, vertx-zookeeper by Stream, vertx-ignite by Andrey !

and today clearly, we (Vert.x) would really not support them without them!

Michael, feel free to contact me (Vert.x Product Manager) directly to discuss.

Michael, we are targeting this year for commercial support. Hopefully sooner this year rather than later :-) I'd be happy to chat offline and discuss more in detail. I'm always interested in hearing what others would like to see from of a commercial offering.

That's great news!
I will discuss it with my management and will definitely direct all specific questions to you directly.
Thanks a lot for the quick response.

BTW, I should clarify, I am the Product Manager of commercial efforts based on vert.x, not Eclipse Vert.x itself.  That’s up the the community :-)
