Error after having installed new version on Ubuntu 18.04

Hello,

I've installed to day the new version 0.5.7 on Ubuntu 18.04 and I've got the following error in the GUI:

connection error: desc = "transport: Error while dialing dial tcp: lookup http: Temporary failure in name resolution"

The server says the following:

[INFO] 2021-03-16T11:58:48Z  {"method":"GET","remote":"MYIPADDRESS","status":503,"url":"/api/v1/GetUserUITraits","user":"veloadmin","user-agent":"Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:86.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/86.0"}

Could anyone please guide me with this, it's a bit frustrating...

It looks like a problem with DNS resolution? 

Are you saying it used to work with the same configuration on older server version? 

Check your config file settings for API and GUI binad addresses and that your server frontend is resolvable.

In fact I've tested the installation twice. First one, 0.5.6 on Windows machine, all went perfect.

Second one, 0.5.7 on an Ubuntu 18.04 VM, not so well.

Followinf your advise, I've set up the DNS Servers following this article. The nameservers were well set but the issue remains.

The GUI can be seen, no problem but it show s like this:

Don't know how to follow... some advise maybe?

On ubuntu are you able to spin up the server using a simple:

velociraptor gui

This will create a self signed local deployment with preconfigured everything. It is only listening on the localhost interface but will give you an idea if there is something wrong with the machine or the configuration. It looks to me like you have an empty string for the hostname from the error message so you should check that setting (Frontend.hostname and Client.server_url). Also make sure the API section is valid in the config file.

How did you make the config file? was it ported from an earlier version? Are you generating it with the wizard?
