II met with Cindy to go over some BMC matters. We were discussing the Parklex project, and there are a number of things that concern me:

1. First, we are told that there were no Parklex panels left over

2. Then we find out that some of the panels that were supposed to be replaced were in fact not replaced.

3. Then we are told that they were not replaced because there was some issues with a pipe or something behind them, which kind of infers that they had panels, but there were reasons they couldn’t install them.

This just doesn’t add up to me. I don’t think we should pay the bill till we understand why those panels were not available even if they didn’t put them up. Then we find out that there was an issue why they didn’t put them up but they never raised the issue with either us or with KIN.

Cindy also raised the issue around caulking, not being done around the panels although she did have a discussion with Sunny who said that they would only need to be caulked or treated if they were cut making the wood now exposed. I would like to understand if they did cut any panels and if they did with the exposed ends treated?

So I think there are a few questions that are outstanding before Tim should OK paying that bill. And I think that Kin should discuss this With the company that did the work. If we were quoted fixed price, then we shouldn’t be paying the amount that we quoted until everything is done. I don’t understand why the pipe/water issue wasn’t identified when they came out to inspect the building and provide the quote.

What are you all think?

Joe

I think Northwest exteriors did a good job overall. And I would think they would be the first candidate when we do more panel replacements. But the questions I raise are valid and they need to be answered before we pay in full .

I, too, would like an explanation about why they didn't have enough panels, and thus didn't finish the job we contracted with them to do.
I understand the issue with the drainpipe, but RDH agreed and advised on the way to finish, with which we agreed.
So...did they finish the job except for the drain pipe?

I think NW Exteriors  likely have been careful to keep enough material to replace the 2 panels that anchor the downspouts once they know how to do that job.  RDH thinks their plan is reasonable. As far as I can determine, they will come back to finish up once we decide on the method. I believe NW Exteriors is a responsible company  and we aren’t faced with some kind of deception. — Hal
