Well, you guys did fine for Low Power! Jeff actually made more
Q's than I did: ~245 to my 214. QTCs saved me, again! Even
though I had to delete 3 or 4 or 5 QTC sessions due to garbled
info, I still had a bunch. I even sent 170 QTCs to the 182 that
I received.

Even though my HF beam is only 20 feet high, high power helps!
Europe didn't start coming in on Saturday morning until about
6:15 am; Sunday it wasn't until almost 6:45 am before they
were strong enough to work reliably. My inverted L was only
17 feet high; didn't have the time/energy to put up the 50'
tall version; besides, I wanted to be able to turn the beam,
as I suspected the higher bands would be active.
So, in 9 hours 33 minutes of operating in the Single Op
High Power Assisted (although I never logged onto a DX Cluster)
category, I managed only 145,770 claimed points, one of my
worst showings in my history of working this contest.
According to the Contest Online Scoreboard, here are our
placements:
AD4TJ SOHP 70th of 163
W4PJW SOLP 60th of 163
N5SMQ SOLP 66th of 163
KF4FC SOHP 160th of 163
Like I mentioned in the N1MM group, we need to have some
practice sessions before the actual contest, to help all remember
how to do the QTC thing effectively.
My equipment: TS-2000X, KPA-500: 300-450 watts out, TA-33
at 20 feet, 17 foot Inverted L. I had to stop using the amp on 80
as it was kicking out on a high SWR fault (ended up with 90 watts
on the band).
Look out next year!
