These are great classes and I'm glad they are posted. However, if you want a spotter number issued by the NWS Baltimore/Washington, you have to take a class sponsored by the Sterling office. The Blacksburg office does not issue spotter numbers. They put your information in a database for their area which covers Rockbridge County and Southward.

Be aware..."you will not be registered into our spotter database or receive a spotter number until you take our Basics SKYWARN® class taught by one of our meteorologists from the NWS Baltimore/Washington Forecast Office."

Please Note...You do not need a spotter number to participate in our local SKYWARN activity. We hold monthly nets and activate when needed.
