Hello all
Great Fox Hunt tonight, a big thank you to all the hunters. Yes this Fox loves water so I
hide along the cliff and river over on Bald Rock Road. It was my multi path Heaven.
I must say that your comradery and support of each other is what makes this event so wonderful.
I hope to have another hunt scheduled for next month so keep your equipment close at hand.
Side bar.. I, we, offer an open invitation to any ham who would like to get started with direction finding. You can ride along
with someone and learn the in's and out's. Then dig in and use your ham knowledge to build an antenna
along with some very cool technology to boot. The skies the limit, I just wish RF was in color so I could see it Emoji

Tonight's hunt was very challenging to be sure. I started at Barren Ridge Church (center of Bob's hunt map) and my RDF showed the fox to be to my north west. The signal was horribly weak. I used my tape measure yagi to obtain a bearing and plotted it on Sig Trax. With my daughter as my navigator (using a android tablet with Google Maps) she directed me to head towards Verona. We drove north of Verona and the RDF showed the signal to be to our west. We turned around and traveled back south on RT11 to Bald Rock Rd, where we headed west. The signal was getting stronger but the RDF was receiving so many multi path signals that a signal direction was unreliable. We turned left off of Bald Rock Rd to the entrance of Shenandoah Campground. The signal was stronger so I got out and used the yagi to shoot another bearing. The bearing from the campground pointed north east from our location. We then traveled back to Bald Rock Rd, turned left out of the campground (we were on Riner Lane) and when we got to the river (fork in the road) my navigator said "dad, turn right") the RDF had a nice direction lock at this point and the Fox was located a few hundred yards down the road right beside the river (go figure, Bob was at the river)

It was our most challenging hunt yet. I attached a couple of screen shots that show my yagi plots on the map and the coordinates the bearings were taken from.

Thank you Bob for a very fun evening.  My daughter is looking forward to the next hunt. Who knows, maybe she will want to get her ticket!! It made for a great father / daughter night.
