As the title says. Just bought a weather station with internet capability, and want to use the service most locals use. Thanks in advance.

Also, do you cover your automatic rain gauge when freezing temps are emminent, or not? I assume you do, as you don't the unit damaged.

I upload to Weather Underground.  My station ID is KVAMCGAH2.  For rain I report to an organization called CoCoRahs and use a manual rain gauge.  Although Weather Underground gets the data from the Davis rain gauge it does differ from the manual.  I do not cover it up in freezing weather and in 15 years I never had a problem.

I use WX Underground. My current rain gage has no moving parts, but over the years I have had both the see-saw and flip-flop types. I have never covered the rain guage and never suffered damage.

Great to hear this David!!

I have an Ambient Weather station bought in 2020 and it uses www.ambientweather.net

It also uploads to Weather Underground (got update info) and Weather Cloud.

I have mine on a 15’ pole and take it down ever Spring and check it as maintenance. Most times it will have a leaf or maybe some dirt film that come right out. Never broken from freezing yet.

Dave,
I fell in love with Acurite wx stations when we were at Costco years ago and bought one for $60.
Eventually I went and hooked it up to the world wide web via Weather-underground.
Then fell into OCD mode anytime it stopped xmitting.
Recently I purchased a newer unit that directly hooked up to the wifi.
I added a remote anemometer to it so the larger unit ( rain gauge, temp, sending unit ) were closer to the ground and easier to service.
Service you say ???
Yes as every cocoon making spider and his brother will at some point get into the unit and lock up the see / saw device that measures the rain.
Or the need to clean out the rain gauge basket after every bird and their family uses it as a potty.
Heres my weather underground link.
The anemometer is up at 15' and is free and clear of all obstacles as it in a field on a ridge.
