HEllo,

This error:
HTTP server doesn't seem to support byte ranges. Cannot resume.

Is to be read as " please delete the temp download since can't resume"

So initial download failed for some reason, so better clear the incomplete box:

Can you run:

$ rm -fr ~/.vagrant.d/tmp/box*

You can reproduce this as:

ie:

Alvaros-Mini:~ kikitux$ vagrant box add minimal/trusty64
==> box: Loading metadata for box 'minimal/trusty64'
box: URL: https://atlas.hashicorp.com/minimal/trusty64
==> box: Adding box 'minimal/trusty64' (v14.04.2) for provider: virtualbox
box: Downloading:
https://vagrantcloud.com/minimal/boxes/trusty64/versions/14.04.2/providers/virtualbox.box
box: Progress: 1% (Rate: 1357k/s, Estimated time remaining:
0:11:01)^C==> box: Waiting for cleanup before exiting...
==> box: Box download was interrupted. Exiting.

Alvaros-Mini:~ kikitux$ vagrant box add minimal/trusty64
==> box: Loading metadata for box 'minimal/trusty64'
box: URL: https://atlas.hashicorp.com/minimal/trusty64
==> box: Adding box 'minimal/trusty64' (v14.04.2) for provider: virtualbox
box: Downloading:

Very good:

root@ubuntu:/tmp#  ls ~/.vagrant.d/tmp/box*
/root/.vagrant.d/tmp/box855249b1521762af702e951d14902c5a034fd6ad  /root/.vagrant.d/tmp/boxcf47ae5be3501a7518e600d10983570e82f3685b
root@ubuntu:/tmp#  rm -rf ~/.vagrant.d/tmp/box*
root@ubuntu:/tmp# vagrant box add minimal/trusty64
==> box: Loading metadata for box 'minimal/trusty64'
==> box: Adding box 'minimal/trusty64' (v14.04.2) for provider: virtualbox
==> box: Successfully added box 'minimal/trusty64' (v14.04.2) for 'virtualbox'!
root@ubuntu:/tmp# vagrant box list
medusa_gorgon    (virtualbox, 0)
medusa_serpent   (virtualbox, 0)
minimal/trusty64 (virtualbox, 14.04.2)

Any chance we can change the error message to something more informative?

Thanks.

Hello,

There was some work done as shown here:

https://github.com/mitchellh/vagrant/issues/5237

Let's see if the fix gets to the next version.

Alvaro.
