Why is the newest Version in the Apt-Get Repository 1.4.3?

Can somebody explain why i can't upgrade to the latest Vagrant version with Apt-Get? I had to download Version 1.8.1 manually from the Website.
I'm using Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.

Hello,

Vagrant is Open Source, and by convenience the installers are available in the vagrant web page, or in releases.hashicorp.com

The one included in each distro, is done by the distro people, and are not managed by hashicorp.

so is upto them to keep up to date.

Has been discussed several time why aren't official ppas, and the answer has been related to the developers will choose to focus in code and fixes, rather than managing the ppa/yum,etc.

Thank you. I just checked the official Repository myself and saw that there are many more Versions available, including the latest.
http://ubuntu-master.mirror.tudos.de/ubuntu/pool/universe/v/vagrant/

I don't know why Apt-Get told me that 1.4.3 would be the latest Version. But I think this is a problem for an Ubuntu forum.
