I have seen loads of post about running 64 bit operating systems as a guest and they are all great for getting you initial guest OS up and running. However I have a Native Windows 10 machine running Ubuntu 64 bit OS as a guest and inside this guest I would like to spin up some other guests, also Ubuntu 64 bit.

The problem I have is when installing the second guest in the VM is it can not see the Acceleration options, VT-x/AMD-v offered by the original host and therefor will not boot.

Is there any way to enable this option so 64 bit guests can boot in this scenario?

Thanks
Paul

So my long winded explanation could have easily summereised by asking how to nest 64 bit OSs

And since searching for the correct terms "Nesting" I have discovered that this is not supported.

With VirtualBox you can run only a 32bit guest inside 64bit guest, not 64bit in 64bit

You might have some luck with VMware though...

Cheers, Torben

works fine with vmware and kvm. use the libvirt driver for kvm and make sure you have nesting enabled in both libvirt and your kernel module.
