JUST MUSING ON THE CURRENT POLITICS IN NAIJA-IS HISTORY ABOUT TO REPEAR ITSELF?

In the early 1960s, Nigeria was confronted with a serious crisis in the Action Group (AG). This turbulence was ignited by the powerful actions of three political actors in the AG, namely Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Chief Samuel L. Akintola, and Alhaji Dauda S. Adegbenro. The commotion that followed the political combustion in the Action Group contributed to a series of misfortunes that has deviled this nation-state since 1967. I would caution the current political stalwarts in the country to revisit this poignant history against the backdrop of what is transpiring in Ibadan, Oyo State, in the PDP. Moreover, let me remind the country to reflect on Nigeria’s political history from 1967 to 1999.
The renaissance of democracy in 1999 and its metamorphosis through 2025 leaves a lot to be desired. To make matters worse, the current Executive, Legislative, and Judicial institutions of government have persistently ignored the Rule of Law, and applied extra-constitutional powers in their governance architecture. Our politicians and leaders no longer see themselves as public servants in our genre of democracy. They are our kings and emperors. Indeed, as a student of democracy, I am sorry to report that democracy is dying in Nigeria due to lack of patriotism and selfishness on the part of our politicians.
Regrettably, my preceding observations are happening at an epoch when the country is confronted with major political, economic, and social quagmires.
Nevertheless, to “keep Nigeria one is a task that must be done.” So, get up, stand up, and fight for its survival–y’all!

Big words.
“Renaissance” in 1999 and through 2025, a slow moving, not instantaneous “metamorphosis”, as was the case with Jesus changing water into wine, with just a snap of his fingers. There was also the Metamorphosis of rigor mortis. Remember, even if like Paul, you were not personally there, that even with Jesus the resurrection after death was not an instantaneous event : it is an article of faith in the Apostles Creed that it was only “on the third day he rose again from the dead”
Who was it that said, "The impossible I do immediately; miracles take a little longer” ?
The author and readers of those big words
should pray to the Almighty
that Nigeria will ascend
to the highest level of democracy
and if in doubt about exactly where
we are
right now
we should please check this out 👍
