It is difficult to write anything. It is equally difficult not to write anything. Sudden, shocking and painful loss.

 

IBK was a personal friend. Decades ago, when owning a PC was a big deal, I managed to buy one from Denmark and had it delivered to the UN office in Kigali, Rwanda. 

 

I considered requesting our IT support at the Kigali UN offices to help set it up. IBK said no, let's do it following the manual.

 

He arrived at my residence on Saturday with plenty of drinks to hand. We sat down together, and HE, it was who set it up. We went out later in the evening with a few other UN staff to celebrate our success without IT support. Today, we all merely turn on a PC.

 

He was a great intellect, passionate about justice, the poor, Nigeria, and helping others. He was a selfless man for whom integrity was everything.

 

May his soul rest with the Lord.
