this is very intriguing. i must say i don't quite understand what macron is doing in lebanon, what he hopes to accomplish. it's actually weird.
i'll try to see what the french press are saying

i will be sympathetic to a Lebanese regime sentiment that considers it a ploy to delegitimize the current government.

i don't know what macron is trying to do. any sovereign govt would resent it, so there is a further political aspect going on that i don't understand. we need someone who is expert in lebanese politics to decipher this. i find it pretty incomprehensible.

i get two things from today's lemonde.
one, enormous enormous protests in lebanon. attempts to reverse the govt in place. hundreds of thousands in the street. the second had to do with an enormous aid program, mostly of europeans. looks as though france wants to take the lead in that.
what i don't know is what french interests there are in lebanon, like business ties. or regional alliances?
lebanon is not saudi arabia, and has been sovereign for a long time
