I am delighted to share the news that I have won the 2021 Distinguished Africanist Award of the African Studies Association of the USA.

Established in the 1980s, the award recognizes and honors "scholars who have contributed a lifetime record of outstanding scholarship in their respective field of African studies and service to the Africanist community."
Previous winners include, Ali Mazrui, Frederick Cooper, J.F. Ade Ajayi, Sara Berry, Akin Mabogunje, Catherine Coquery-Vidrovitch, and Thandika Mkandawire, among others.
