Eminent scholar, prominent analyst of Christian missionaries in Eastern Nigeria, and an  indefatigable intellectual, joined his ancestors a few hours ago.

He was a mentor to many of us.

Very sad, indeed, even as we celebrate his life and his gift of high quality scholarship to the world.

Prof. Felix K. Ekechi, passed away this morning at the Cleveland Clinic Hospital (South Pointe), Cleveland, Ohio. He was 89. As TF noted, Prof. Ekechi was a respected historian and emeritus professor of history at Kent State University, Ohio. He was formerly, the Director, Institute of African Studies at KSU. He was a joy to hang around at many academic and social events.

He is survived by his wife and four adult children and numerous grandchildren. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this irreparable loss.🙏🏽

Ouch!
What a great intellectual and genuine gentleman. Yes indeed, we lost another big fish in our ever-receding ocean. I hosted him in Wisconsin in past years and he was a pleasant and gracious guest. May we and all those related to him be comforted.
